Russell Ranch-SAFS has hosted annual field days every year from 1994-2008 (in 2007 the field day was at a local farm). SAFS field days feature grower panels, tractor demonstrations and
presentations of research findings. The most recent field day focused on how growers cope with increased energy
costs (read about it in the SAFS newsletter).
Russell Ranch produces a newsletter three times a year that reaches approximately 1250 recipients. The SAFS website provides up-to-date newsletters, press reports and a presentation on
improving agricultural runoff management (SAFS website). Russell Ranch acts as a living laboratory for several agronomy and
soil science classes on campus and hosts numerous national and international visitors each year.
